Sophies Ticated Gifts was set up in memory of our Beautiful Angel of the North. Sophie Ela Atay. Sophie was one of the most inspirational little girls I ever had the honour of meeting. Sophie battled Neuroblastoma (a horrendous form of Childhood Cancer) and sadly gained her wings on 11th March 2010 at the age of 2yrs 4months. We have created this website in memory of Sophie, to continue spreading the word and share her story, and to raise money for children needing treatment.

Sophie was just 15 months old at diagnosis. Her cancer had spread to her bone marrow and liver making her stage 4 cancer “high risk” the worst case scenario for this disease. Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive malignant cancer with horrendous survival rates as low as 20%. Relapse is very common which is reflected in the survival rate. If relapse does occur there is no cure at the moment in Europe. Most children who get this cancer are younger than five years old. Neuroblastoma is the second most common solid tumour in childhood and makes up 8% of the total number of children’s cancers. There are approx 100 children in the UK each year diagnosed. Our Government don’t provide enough treatment and therefore the families have to raise funds for better treatment and travel abroad at the minimum cost of £250,000 that is treatment alone, then the families will require money to cover other expeditures like, accomadtion, flights, medication, tests etc.. the list is endless….
